July 18, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

So you have this great camera but don’t really know how to use it?

Sign up for my Beginners' Workshop!

This workshop is not overly technical yet explains the basic exposure principles of photography. Once you know those, all these dials on your camera will begin to make sense. For anyone with a DSLR, mirrorless or point-and-shoot camera. Sorry: NO Smartphones!

You will learn about:

  • The (in-)famous EXPOSURE TRIANGLE: Aperture (f-stop), shutter speed, ISO
  • Aperture priority, shutter priority and manual mode (and which one to actually use)
  • Focusing, metering
  • White Balance, Exposure, Exposure compensation
  • The basics of framing, composition and DOF (depth of field)
  • Downloading/ sizing images for print and online use
  • Once you are thoroughly confused about all these, we will go and practice at the nearby park.

  • Afterwards we will discuss your images.

Light snacks, filtered water and coffee/tea provided! Maybe a li’l bubbly to finish off ;-)

Projected timeline:

10am – 12:30pm: Theory

12:30pm – 2pm: Practice session in nearby park

To workshop or not?

To workshop it is.

Currently I am in the process of planning a few workshops for up to 5 people each, as well as offering one-on-one workshops.

Beginners Workshop (~6hrs):

I will cover some basics of photography: Shutter speed, aperture, iso, depth of field, whitebalance, exposure compensation.

This will be the basis to get to know your camera and its settings. Accompanied by some field exercises to demonstrate how the settings work and play/ relate to one another, and how these settings can be used to create an image. We will also work on basic composition.

Once we have taken the photos we can review the photos together and understand how to get the most out of our images through post processing.

What to bring:

Your camera and its manual, as well as an extra battery

Tripod if you have one
